April L. Oldham, NBCT, Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Special Education

Ms. Oldham channels years of expertise to her work with Allisonville Elementary School

INDIANAPOLIS, March 7, 2022 – April L. Oldham, NBCT, has been included in Marquis Who’s Who. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Before embarking upon her professional journey, Ms. Oldham pursued a formal education at Ball State University, from which she attained a Bachelor of Science in psychology and special education, with a minor in educational psychology. Following this accomplishment, she graduated from Butler University with a Master of Science in education, psychometrics and special education.

Ms. Oldham began a noteworthy career in special education with Harcourt Elementary in 1985. Several years after entering the field, she became a special education teacher for Allisonville Elementary School in 1993. In this capacity, Ms. Oldham works with students who live with a wide range of disabilities.

A national board certified teacher through the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, Ms. Oldham has maintained her affiliation with National Drifters Inc. and the National Teachers Union. With National Drifters, she strives to work on behalf of the local community by performing volunteer work with other women. Throughout her vocation and endeavors in advocacy, Ms. Oldham has achieved much, earning a Congressional recognition, the District Teacher of the Year Award through MSD Washington Township, and the Golden Apple Award through Indianapolis Power and Light.

While her career has been filled with highlights, Ms. Oldham is most proud to have distinguished herself as a nationally certified teacher. Looking toward the future, she intends to work at the pre-service level, collaborating with teachers in the field of special education. Additionally, Ms. Oldham aims to pursue a love of crafting and indulge in her love for travel, both domestically and abroad.
